Christmas Time!

We got our tree put up over the weekend!! The Christmas lights were quite the pain and elicited more curse words that anything involving Jesus’ birthday ever should and now half of them aren’t working, but doesn’t matter because it is done! And you know what that means…it is getting closer to the 10th!

The barely lit tree:

Stockings in the kitchen!

I discovered that I took up precious room with six sets of Christmas lights that don’t plug in over here but forgot my tree skirt.  But looking back on my mental state while packing, it’s amazing I got over here with socks and underwear so I gave myself a pass.

I have been to three stores getting things to make pies for Thanksgiving and I’ll put baking and Thanksgiving updates in the next couple of days!

This is the story of a newlywed-ish couple in Dallas about to pack up their lives and pups to move to jolly ol' England. They will miss good family, good friends and good fajitas.

    The Christmas Tree

They’ve been to get their Christmas tree, they hadn’t far to go.
They live in that country where young timber starts to grow.
The day is cold the snow is new, there’s not so many tracks.
The dad has got the Christmas tree, the kid he has the ax.

You notice by the chimney that the fire place is wide.
They have their house built strong and low, it’s plenty warm inside.
    They’ve got a good set of good corrals besides a stable too;
They are fixed up pretty handy fer a place to winter through.

And when they put the candles on it’s easy to believe
How that tree will look by fire light this comin’ Christmas eve.
There won’t be any carols sung, there won’t no organ play
But they’ll have a happy Christmas in them hills so far away.

I’ll bet the old man’s thinkin’ back to when he was a kid.
How folks would spend their Christmas and the things he got and did.
Of course the kid, he looks ahead, he don’t think of the past,
But he’ll soon have Christmas memories that he’ll keep until the last.

I think you tree is gorgous, despite the fact your 16 year old brother has guns! I know, that makes no sense but its the Friday after Thanksgiving, I am temporarily sick of turkey and the Aggies stunk it up again. Love ya, Dad.

Your tree is lovely. Baby sister and I are in San Antonio. The Curtis Grimes band sang for the lighting of the Alamo Christmas tree. It was a great show. Just picture it Curtis on stage with the Alamo to his immediate left and the giant Alamo Christmas tree to his right. His songs rang out for over 4 blocks. It was great. Later, we attended the HEB reception on a rooftop overlooking the tree, Alamo Plaza, and brightly lit River Walk. It was a perfect 70 degrees. We are headed home through Lufkin to watch the Buckeyes play the regional semi finals game. It looks as though it will be a perfect day for a 2:30 game.
Be safe and take care of Mikey.
