A Night at the Embassy

I got to go to the American Embassy tonight. Most people HAVE to go to an Embassy- it isn’t a pleasant experience because it is usually in conjunction with loosing your passport or needing a visa (fyi for all you fellow expats they have notaries at the Embassy…and only at the Embassy).  They had a welcome night for all the new Embassy families and had local companies and clubs come to give out information. There were lots of fun places represented and I got to go with one of our board members to represent the AWC. There were protesters outside the embassy and I would have taken a picture for you but I decided that I didn’t want to be on some hit list somewhere or give them any more attention that they didn’t deserve. But is was a little unnerving to be there and go through security and see guards with machine guns. I smiled at them… because they had machine guns, and I’m too young to die.

Bodean’s was there providing bbq-y goodness to everyone. You know you have been away from the states for too long when you get so excited about pickles that you can hardly stand it!!!

My plate-o-bbq! The cracker is from Whole Foods and it is smeared with delicious runny stinky cheese! Mmmm cheese.

Posing with Jill by our little table and sign!

The event was really fun and I met some nice people, talked up the club and had some good food. Not a bad night!

This is the story of a newlywed-ish couple in Dallas about to pack up their lives and pups to move to jolly ol' England. They will miss good family, good friends and good fajitas.

Glad my uncle and aunt made it across the pond. If you get a chance have LB take a picture in front of Big Ben. (Ok, I know Big Ben is the bell but I mean the big clock)

    Hi,

I just noticed on Pioneer Woman that you said your favorite Thanksgiving dish is Hot Pineapple Salad. Would it be possible to get that recipe from you? That sounds so interesting!! Oh, and yummy.
    Thank you
