You’re really funny! I, too, am a Republican (well, I’m somewhat middle of the road, but on the right side) who uses cloth napkins and carries reusable grocery bags. I like them better, too. They are stronger, cheaper and prettier. Well, okay, a green bag that says “Stop and Shop” isn’t so pretty, but it’s nicer than plastic.
I agree that we really can’t do anything about the big picture of the planet. The earth was here a long time before us and will be here long after we are gone. I think it’s humanly arrogant to think we will have any real effect on the planet over time. The planet will adjust and absorb whatever we do, and go on.
However, I do believe in the ‘here and now,’ so if I can put a few less pieces of trash in the local dump by cutting back on paper napkins, etc., then that makes sense to me.

I am a Rep. too but I don’t think that has anything to do w/taking care of what God gave us. What did our anstyors do? The things we do cost us money so why not save a little. I am a cheapskate so when I do things to save money I’ll do it. Not to mention better health.
